Issues | Maine's Outdoor Heritage

Having grown up in a large family in the Katahdin Region, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling are an important part of Mike's life. For several years, he was co-owner of a sporting camp in Aroostook County. Throughout his life, Mike has worked hard to promote and preserve Maine's outdoor heritage. As a member of the Maine State Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike has consistently supported policies that promote outdoor recreation.

  • Mike has consistently opposed any further restrictions on the ownsership or possesion of firearms and has long been supported by the NRA.

  • As a member of the Transportation Committe, Mike has fought to fund multi-use trails (including snowmobiles) and will continue to use this position to promote outdoor recreation.

  • Mike has secured over $600,000 to fund Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife search and rescue programs.
  • Mike has received endorsements from groups like the Sportsmen's Alliance of Maine and the Maine Snowmobile Asscociation.
