Mike Michaud has opposed the War in Iraq from the begining. Mike knew that our soldiers and resources would have been better used fighting Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the leadership in Washington took their eye off the ball. Our troops have performed heroically despite an impossible mission. Mike is doing his part to change the course and use our military in a smart and effective manner.

Mike has long called for a new strategy that empowers the Iraqi people to take control of their own country.

Mike recently voted for H.R. 2956, the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act, which would require troops to be redeployed within 120 days.

Mike has made several trips to Iraq in his capacity as chairman of the Subcommittee on Veterans Health. He has made inspections of healthcare facilities to make sure our injured soldiers are getting the services they need.
